Black Tie Swagger
Christian wanted to celebrate his 30th birthday like no other. So we designed and planned an unforgettable night for his friends and family. Dress code was black tie and the decor was all black and white. The event was held at the
Ballroom at Twelve Atlantic Station
Guests were welcomed with a black carpet marked with Christian's monogram. The custom runner was created by
I Do Originals.
Here Christian opens the doors for his big reveal and to welcome guests.
Cocktail HourThe party was divided into 3 rooms. Because it was such a long event (7pm-1am) we wanted to keep guests engaged and interested to see what would happen next.
We started with the cocktail hour in the pre-function room. We showed a slideshow of Christian's photos from the past 30 years on the flat screen TVs.
The pre-function space also included a great outdoor patio which was perfect for the Spring weather we had.
FoodThe food was also part of the experience of the party. Not really food, but we did a martini ice luge with Christian's monogram
Endive Catering did a great job with all the food. Not only does the food taste fantastic but their presentation is always a work of art.
EntertainmentOnce cocktail hour was over we moved the guests into the 2nd room with the food and entertainment which included a live band.
As you can see the ladies quite enjoyed the band!
We also had casino tables to keep guests entertained
I love the Old Hollywood look of this photo
Dance FloorAround 10pm we opened the 3rd room which was for the DJ and dance floor. We used Christian's monogram again to project on the wall in this room.
The Birthday CakeOh the birthday cake, definitely one of my favorite show pieces at the event! We hung a black crystal chandelier with white orchids hanging down over the cake table.
We used a great geometric pattern to trim the cake which also matched the custom cake table linen.
The cake sat on top of a sheet of glass with white flowers underneath. This cake table stopped guests in their tracks and they were taking pictures of it all night. The cake which tasted as good as it looked was done by
Sugarplum Visions.DecorThe color scheme was black and white with a great geometric pattern. This year damask print is out and it's all about the geometric pattern! The challenge of the decor was to make it modern and upscale without being too feminine. Christian was great about trusting me with the design and it was great to come up with ideas for decor that was fresh and different.
White leather lounge furniture gave an alternative to regular table seating and really popped in the room.
I Do Linens custom made our table linens and even pillows for the leather couches.
And the flower centerpieces done by
Shosho Designs were stunning!
This was such a fun event to design and plan especially because Christian trusted me to do what I do best and in the end everything came together nicely.
