Model for A Day
My husband and I had the chance to participate in the Love Affair photography workshop and it was a blast! Here are a few preview shots from our fabulous photographer Davina.
My hair and makeup was definitely a different look for me. But that's what these shoots are for - to have fun and take chances.
After almost 9 years of marriage it's great to have images like these. I definitely recommend a fun photo session just because!

Featured on Ross Oscar Knight
Yesterday, Ross Oscar Knight featured an interview and my new head shots on his blog. Check it out here.
I'm so used to being on the other side of the camera, helping my brides get ready for their special day. For me, it's nerve wrecking to be in front of the camera. But my good friend Ross Knight, made me feel so at ease, and as a result captured my true personality in the photos. I'm hard at work updating my branding and website. Hopefully soon I'll be able to show how these photos will be incorporated into my company's fresh new look!

My Anniversary
Today is my 8 year wedding anniversary! The years have flown by and I can honestly say that I fall deeper in love with my husband everyday - well mostly everyday : ) He supports me to pursue my dreams, is an amazing father to our two girls, and truly is my best friend. I can't imagine my life without him and I am so excited to see what the future holds for the years ahead.

2008 Family Portraits
Every year, my family has a portrait session to use for our Christmas cards. This year we took advantage of Alea Moore's portrait special and I couldn't be happier the way the pictures turned out.
Alea really captured my girls' personalities. Kristen is the dramatic one
And Kamryn is the laid back one
Alea was amazingly patient and great with my kids. She made funny faces and played games, which as you can see got a great reaction from the girls.
I will treasure these photos forever. Now the only hard part will be picking one for our Christmas cards!

My Grandpa
This post has nothing to do with weddings or events, but today I wanted to share how proud I am of my grandpa.
My grandpa is a man who has always put his family first. My childhood was filled with such great memories because of him and there has never been a time that I have called him and he wasn't there for me. And now my kids are fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
A few weeks ago, my grandpa was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the United States' highest civilian award, for his service in the Tuskegee Airmen program.
For those who may not know about the Tuskegee Airmen, here is a little excerpt from the National Park Service...."Before 1940, African Americans were barred from flying for the U.S. military. Civil rights organizations and the black press exerted pressure that resulted in the formation of an all African-American pursuit squadron based in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1941. They became known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
The Tuskegee Airmen overcame segregation and prejudice to become one of the most highly respected fighter groups of World War II. They proved conclusively that African Americans could fly and maintain sophisticated combat aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen's achievements, together with the men and women who supported them, paved the way for full integration of the U.S. military."

My Project 42 Session
Normally I try to keep everything strictly business on this blog so I hope you don't mind me sharing about my personal life today. Months ago I won a free photo session with photographer Shannon Wright for a new concept called Project 42. The number 42 means Love is: 4=love 2=is. It's a photo session about what love means to you and capturing it while in your wedding attire.
Now I've been married for 8 years and have 2 kids so I didn't know if Shannon would even want to use us for this project. But Shannon jumped at the opportunity to work with us and I couldn't believe I actually had a legitimate excuse to put on my wedding dress again!
With what little free time we have, my husband and I love to go to the movies. So we started with a movie themed photo shoot at Atlantic Station.
But the movie theatre wouldn't let us inside so we moved on to the Fox Theatre. I guess God was looking out for us because they actually let us shoot inside the Fox!
For the second part of our session we chose to do a shoot about what we love most - our two beautiful daughters! Me being me I couldn't just do a regular photo shoot in the park - nope, we took our couch and put it in the middle of Piedmont Park!

It was like any day playing in the park - except in my wedding dress!

Thanks so much Shannon for including us in your Project 42! I know these aren't the typical "wedding pictures" but we had so much fun and now we have beautiful keepsake pictures of our family capturing what we love most.
